Adduco CASE STUDY: Canadian energy industry leadership
How a professional-services company turned leadership training into practical executive-team development
At a Glance
A professional services company engaged Adduco to develop its executive leadership team through an eight-module applied leadership series. Practical frameworks, candid facilitation and current workplace issues helped create greater alignment, shared understanding and observable leadership growth.
The Challenge
The company needed to operate efficiently, control costs and consistently deliver high-quality work in a competitive market. Its executive team included four to six capable leaders with different roles, experience levels and ideas about leadership. Although participation was not a concern, leaders often approached objectives through their individual functions. The president recognized that sustained performance and differentiation required more than individual capability: the executives needed to develop as an aligned, strategically focused leadership team.
Our Approach
Adduco designed and delivered an eight-module series over several months, progressing from leadership foundations and situational leadership to communication, change, decision-making, conflict, high-performance teams and strategy execution. The core material was intentionally applicable across organizations, while breakout discussions and exercises were tailored to the company’s environment and current issues.
Adduco facilitated the sessions using practical frameworks, self-assessments, workplace scenarios and experience gained through both leadership successes and setbacks. Participants applied concepts between modules, then returned for reflection, informal coaching and peer learning. When important conversations emerged, the schedule and content flexed to give the executive team time to work through them. The president attended every session as an equal participant and reinforced an open, non-judgmental environment.
Results Delivered
As the series progressed, previously unspoken interpersonal dynamics were discussed candidly and the facilitator observed increasing leadership maturity. Concepts that initially challenged the group, particularly leadership styles and situational leadership became part of its shared understanding. Participants reported continuing to reference the tools in planning, leadership discussions and organizational development. The client also reported using course materials to support new-leader onboarding.
Both completed evaluations rated every course and instructor criterion 5 out of 5. One participant said the practical frameworks had become part of how the team approached planning and leadership practice; another highlighted the value of applying the material to real situations.
Why It Worked
The engagement combined experienced, humble facilitation with practical tools and live organizational application. Adduco’s High-Performance Equation helped leaders see that team performance depends on three interconnected dimensions:
High-Performance Teams = Structural Discipline × Cultural Maturity × Leadership Maturity
This gave the team a common language for moving beyond individual leadership toward aligned executive performance
